The Latin Legends return to the Greek Theatre on Saturday, May 23 by popular demand. The Latin Legends line-up features WAR with special guests Tierra featuring The Salas Bros., Malo with special guest Jorge Santana and El Chicano.
One of the most popular funk groups of the '70s, WAR were also one of the most eclectic, freely melding soul, Latin, jazz, blues, reggae, and rock influences into an effortlessly funky whole. Although WAR's lyrics were sometimes political in nature (in keeping with their racially integrated lineup), their music almost always had a sunny, laid-back vibe emblematic of their Southern California roots. Their string of hits includes, “Low Rider,” “Spill the Wine,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” “Cisco Kid” and “World is a Ghetto.” WAR has sold nearly 50 million records. Their recent offering Greatest Hits Live, is their first release in 14 years. Also performing is Tierra, the band named "Best R&B Vocal Group" by four leading magazines including Billboard. They started their career in East Los Angeles with a blend of rock, pop, jazz, R&B and salsa and have produced such classics like “Together,” “Gonna Find Her,” “Memories” and “Zoot Suit Boogie.” The band’s latest CD is On the Right Track. Tierra will feature The Salas Bros. while Malo with special guest Jorge Santana and El Chicano round out the Latin Legends bill. |
