THE GREEK THEATRE OF LOS ANGELES,
VENUE OF THE YEAR FOR THE EIGHTH TIME
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 8, 2008) – The Greek Theatre, which has been exclusively booked by Nederlander Concerts since 1975, was named for the eighth time the country’s “Best Small Outdoor Venue of the Year,” by Pollstar, the live entertainment industry trade magazine. Nederlander has received this award for the Greek Theatre seven out of the past eight years.
The announcement was made last night during the 19th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards ceremony. The nominees for the award included the respected Chastain Park Amphitheatre (Atlanta, GA), Filene Center at Wolf Trap (Vienna, VA) and the Santa Barbara Bowl (Santa Barbara, CA), another Nederlander exclusively booked venue, which has been nominated four out of the past five years. Nederlander Concerts consistently hosts the greatest in headline talent at The Greek Theatre and the 2007 season showcased an unprecedented line-up with multiple sell out performances by Arcade Fire, Incubus, Beastie Boys, Michael Bublé, Wilco and Stevie Wonder among others. The Greek Theatre hosted nearly 300,000 concert goers during the 2007 season and Nederlander is currently working on programming for the 2008 season, which will be announced in March with the launch of the Premiere Marquee Club, the venue’s annual subscription program found online at www.pmcla.com.
