LOS ANGELES, CA (February 9, 2007) – The Greek Theatre, which has been exclusively booked by Nederlander Concerts since 1975, was named the country’s “Best Small Outdoor Venue of the Year,” by Pollstar, the live entertainment industry trade magazine. Nederlander has received this award for the Greek six out of the past seven years and a total of seven times since the inception of the award in the early nineties.
The announcement was made last night at the Gibson Amphitheatre during the 18th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards ceremony. The nominees for the award included such respected venues as the Chastain Park Amphitheatre (Atlanta, GA), Filene Center at Wolf Trap (Vienna, VA) and the Santa Barbara Bowl (Santa Barbara, CA), another Nederlander exclusively booked venue.
The Greek Theatre consistently hosts the greatest in headline talent and the 2006 season showcased an unprecedented line-up with sell out performances by Bruce Springsteen and the Seeger Sessions Band, Radiohead, Melissa Etheridge, Fiona Apple, Muse, Matisyahu, Ben Harper, Death Cab for Cutie, John Fogerty and Smokey Robinson among others. The Greek Theatre hosted over 250,000 concert goers during the 2006 season and Nederlander is currently working on programming for the 2007 season, which will be announced in March with the launch of the Premiere Marquee Club, the venue’s annual subscription program found online at www.pmcla.com.
