THE GREEK THEATRE IN LOS ANGELES
NAMED THE COUNTRY’S BEST SMALL
OUTDOOR VENUE OF THE YEAR
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 16, 2006) – The Greek Theatre was named the country’s “Best Small Outdoor Venue of the Year,” by Pollstar, the live entertainment industry trade magazine. This marks the fifth time out of six consecutive years that the legendary venue has won this prestigious award.
The announcement was made last night, at The Theatre at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, during the 17th
Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards ceremony.The Greek Theatre defeated this year’s finalists, which included such venerable venues as, the Chastain Park Amphitheatre (Atlanta, GA), Filene Center at Wolf Trap (Vienna, VA) and Mountain Winery (Saratoga, CA).We were also honored that the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, California, another Nederlander exclusively booked venue, was nominated for the award.
The Greek has been fortunate to continuously host the greatest in headline talent and in 2005, achieved the greatest level of sold out events with performances by Sarah McLachlan, Willie Nelson, The Mars Volta, Robert Plant, The Black Eyed Peas, Michael Bublé, Jack Johnson and Franz Ferdinand, among others.
The Greek Theatre is owned by the City of Los Angeles, and is managed, operated and promoted by Nederlander Concerts.
