THE GREEK THEATRE IN LOS ANGELES WAS NAMED THE COUNTRY’S BEST SMALL OUTDOOR VENUE OF THE YEAR
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 7, 2005) – The Greek Theatre was named by Pollstar magazine as the country’s “Best Small Outdoor Venue of the Year”. The 2004 season marked the 75th Anniversary of the legendary Greek Theatre as well as the completion of a multi-million dollar renovation project.
The announcement was made Friday evening at the Wiltern LG Theatre during the 16th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards ceremony. The Greek Theatre defeated this year’s finalists, which included the Chastain Park Amphitheatre (Atlanta, GA), Filene Center at Wolf Trap (Vienna, VA) and the Greek Theatre (Berkeley, CA).
The Greek Theatre had a stellar season in 2004 with several sold out concerts including David Bowie, Pepe Aguilar, Diana Krall, Carole King, Jack Johnson, Josh Groban, the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, La Ley, the Pixies, Carlos Santana, REM and many more. The Greek Theatre will open its 2005 season April 23rd with Sarah McLachlan.
The Greek Theatre is owned by the City of Los Angeles, and is managed, operated and promoted by Nederlander-Greek Inc.
